Burnout and fatigue are not just “laziness” or a weakness of character. This is a state in which a person has been giving away more for too long than he has managed to restore. At some point, it becomes empty inside: it's hard to rejoice, it's hard to turn on, it's hard to want, it's hard to feel alive. In burnout, the phrase "pull yourself together" often does not help a person. The nervous system is already exhausted. She doesn't need pressure and new demands, but gentle recovery signals: warmth, pause, gentle rhythm, a sense of caring, and a return to simple bodily pleasures. One of these signals may be a smell. In this module, you will learn how the smell can support a person with emotional burnout, apathy, chronic fatigue and loss of strength. Not as a magic remedy or as a substitute for rest, therapy, or medical care, but as a gentle sensory practice that helps you feel your body, needs, resources, and inner aliveness again. You will learn to notice which smells do not overload, but bring back a feeling of warmth, presence, self-care and a small movement towards recovery. The smell should not “turn on” a person by force. His task is to help carefully return to himself, to the body, to the resource and to the feeling: “I still have life in me, and I can recover in small steps.”
